This design (pictured) was developed for Jessica Makin’s RHS show garden ‘An Artist’s Studio at Home’ in the Green Living Category, Spring 2019.
Inspired by the desert-studio of painter Georgia O’Keeffe (1887-1986), the textures of her workshop - Ghost Ranch - included ceramic tiles, sun-bleached cow bones, linen, raw plaster, and of course her huge, blooming, floral paintings.
This textile is woven with strength and structure in mind, and my apprentice Rose Riedel O’Brien & I developed a blended yarn that has been spun and plied to reflect the use of the work as a floor or wall covering, as well as creating an artistic statement and contemporary craft weaving.
Natural golden flax-linen warp
* I’ve set up an initial pre-order on this listing, outside lead time is 10 weeks from order being placed to receiving your rug, and may be sooner depending on studio schedule.*
If purchased as a wall hanging, it will be mounted onto a mid-weight pale oak dowling rod. Message to discuss your requirements before placing an order; you can find the contacts page in the menu above.
Bright Moon Yarn is ethical and traceable, using the wonderful natural resource of South Down Wool and Romney Marsh Fleece from Sheep Ahoy Animal Rescue in Kent, UK. Once sheared, the fleece is then processed in Cornwall by The Natural Fibre Company. This beautiful local fleece creates the base for all blended skeins used in Imogen's textiles, and additional fibre blends such as wild silk and linen are sourced to meet the highest standards of environmentalism, animal welfare and sustainability.
