Prima Materia (Black Earth) Rug
108cm x 168cm (plus fringe)
Heavy-woven rug for floor or wall display, Prima Materia is an exploration of Crone wisdom and underworld warmth, the fertile void where seeds can grow, the alchemical substance and paradox of creation. The soil and poppy seeds of Baba Yaga.
Hand-blended and triple-chain-spun yarns in the Diné (Navajo) technique, these naturally coloured/undyed fibres were selected for their sympathetic depth and softness; the magical peat coloured Selkie-sheep of Isle of Auskerry, tended by Teresa; commingled with rare breed British wool in bitter-chocolate, almost purple, brown, added with a panel of rose-shaded cashmere goat and softer yak hair.
On a natural golden warp of blended wool-linen.
(This unusual colourway has been photographed as true to life as possible, Pantone references 439M & 440M, and shows true on an iPad screen/iPhone screen)
I can recommend a suitable felt base for uses as a floor rug, please let me know your intended use.
This rug has been twice wet-finished to fully reach its final proportions, and can safely be cold wet finished again in the future.

A special note to my European / International Clients
(Please email me direct at email@example.com for shipping queries outside the UK as it is currently taking 3-4 weeks to ship to Europe for example, and importantly, *you will be charged import customs* on newly purchased goods which can add a significant % to the final costs, this is because of Brexit, my apologies.)
